Community Partners & Green Initiatives

In addition to raising funds for JLW and our grants, Tossed & Found is proud to support our community in a variety of ways.

Community Cash Cards

Community Cash Cards are $50 vouchers given to members of the community to shop the Tossed & Found sale for everyday essentials. Community Cash Cards give dignity and choice to our neighbors in need. Recipients can select curtains that transform a house into a home, find the right size dress for a job interview, and pick the cutest onesie for a new baby.

Members of JLW’s Tossed & Found Committee will distribute these cards to recipients before or at the sale. The cards are redeemable for merchandise only, have no cash value, and are only valid on the weekend of the 2023 Tossed & Found sale.

Please click here to donate to Community Cash Cards in $10 increments.

If you are a Tossed & Found committee member or a friend or family member of a Tossed & Found committee member, please note the member’s name during the check-out process.

Tax deductibility: Your community cash card donation is tax deductible*

*Note: Exceptions to tax deduction occur if cash card purchases are designated for a specific individual (i.e. a “neighbor in need”). This is not a charitable donation and is treated as a “gift certificate” purchase to an individual. JLW will gladly mail your card as requested.

In-Kind Contributions to Local Organizations

Tossed & Found partners with local organizations to support their mission with in-kind donations.

In this video, several of our community partners describe how Tossed & Found supports their work.

Below are just a few of the organizations with whom we partnered in 2022:

  • A Wider Circle
  • Helping Ukraine (Northern Virginia Regional Mission)
  • Homes Not Borders
  • Humane Rescue Alliance
  • New York Avenue Presbyterian Church
  • Volunteers of America
  • Willow Springs Elementary

Please check back Winter 2022-2023 for more information about partnering with Tossed & Found.

Green Initiatives

In addition to keeping thousands of home goods out of the landfill, we recycle ripped, stained, and torn fabric as part of our green initiative.
