Who We Are
A Daring Start to our 114th Year
Greetings JLW Members, Family, and Friends,

As we begin our 114th year together, I am filled with optimism, excitement, and gratitude for all that lies ahead for the Junior League of Washington. It is an incredible honor to serve as your 88th President, and an absolute privilege to stand alongside 2,200 remarkable women. We are united by a shared commitment to advancing women’s leadership for meaningful community impact.
Before we look ahead, I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to our outgoing leadership. Their unwavering dedication, visionary thinking, and tireless service have strengthened this organization in immeasurable ways. Thanks to their service, we enter this new chapter with extraordinary momentum and renewed purpose.
This year, I want to introduce a simple idea for our theme; one that is both deeply personal and profoundly collective. Our theme for the year is:
“Dare to: ________________.”
Dare to is followed by an intentional blank because service and leadership are not one-size-fits-all. Every member brings unique talents, experiences, and passions to this League. Whether you Dare to Impact, Dare to Serve, Dare to Inspire, or simply Dare to be YOU, your courage and commitment to the JLW mission matter. I urge you to define your own call to action for this year.
This is an important moment of change for our organization. As we embark on developing a new strategic plan, we have a meaningful opportunity to reimagine how we serve our community and how we continue to advance women’s leadership for lasting impact. Innovation will not come from one voice alone; it will come from all of us working together.
We have twelve months to make a difference. Twelve months to boldly serve, strengthen our mission, and to shape the future of this League for the next 114 years.
So I ask: What will you dare to do?
With gratitude and in your service,

Jacqueline Frederick-Maturo
Junior League of Washington President 2026-2027
